Jukebox Charley is the fourth installment in his Lil' G.L. tribute series, produced by Billy Horton. It's another great example of Crockett revitalizing country music by looking back for inspiration and creating his own unique sound, whether through his own songs or the songs of others.
On this new album, Crockett sifts through country music's past and then incorporates it into his unique Gulf & Western sound - weaving old school blues, R&B, soul, Cajun, western swing and other classic influences into country - revitalizing the genre. And while the album features songs by country legends like Willie Nelson, Tom T. Hall and George Jones, Crockett also spotlights songs by regional acts like Louisiana's Larry Brasso and a deep cut by Red Sovine. And even as he interprets songs by country legends, Crockett turns to lesser-known or underrated songs, eschewing hits of the genre.
