Alexis and Katie, both proud Chesterton natives, share a lifelong love for the Indiana Dunes, which inspired their first children’s book, A Day at the Dunes. Alexis, a graphic designer turned digital illustrator, brought her artistic passion to life through the book’s whimsical visuals. Katie, a devoted wife, mother, and aspiring homesteader, found inspiration in a local children’s book and crafted a story celebrating the picturesque beauty of the Dunes National Park. Together, they’ve created a heartfelt homage to their favorite hometown treasure.
When not collaborating, Alexis enjoys hiking, photography, and DIY projects, while Katie spends her time baking sourdough bread, running 5Ks, and exploring the outdoors with her family. They hope A Day at the Dunes resonates with readers, from locals to visitors discovering the Dunes for the first time.
