The sixth studio album by Genesis, released in 1974, was their last recorded with Peter Gabriel as lead singer. The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway is a concept album centering around he journey of Rael, a Puerto Rican youngster living in New York City.

The album peaked at No. 10 on the UK Album Chart and #41 on the US Billboard 200. The album produced two singles in the UK, "Counting Out Time" and "The Carpet Crawlers". The title track was released as a single in the U.S.
